Quiet the Noise, Draw Near, Be a Conduit
“Quiet the noise around you, draw near to hear God, and listen to the heartbeat of needy souls. Be a conduit of healing and hope to them.” – Doug Stringer
We live in a world of relentless noise—buzzing notifications, breaking headlines, ideological shouting, and a digital culture that never stops speaking. But the greatest danger isn’t just the noise around us. It’s the noise within us.
The most vital discipline we must recover in this hour is stillness—not simply the absence of sound, but a posture of the soul that allows us to hear the voice of God.
Because in a time when chaos abounds, we must remember: The Voice of the Lord is louder. The Voice of the Lord is mightier.
Quiet the Noise Around You:
The world is filled with distraction—but so are our hearts. Fear, anxiety, insecurity, and endless striving can drown out God’s whisper just as much as any external noise.
Yet Scripture repeatedly calls us to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). Stillness brings clarity. Solitude gives space for the Spirit to search us, convict us, and speak to us.
I’ve often said, “Noise without clarity is chaos.” We cannot deliver a message of peace and hope to a weary world if we ourselves are overwhelmed and spiritually cluttered.
Even Jesus, the Son of God, withdrew often to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16). He modeled getting away to hear the Father and then returning to minister with authority. If Jesus needed solitude, how much more do we?
Draw Near to Hear God:
James 4:8 tells us, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Intimacy requires intentionality.
Too often, we chase purpose while neglecting Presence. But God’s purpose can never be fully lived out apart from His presence.
Drawing near to God isn’t just about getting answers—it’s about becoming aligned. It’s about coming into agreement with His heart, His Word, and His ways.
When we pause to draw near, God reveals not only what to do next—but who He is shaping us to become. In His presence, we gain His perspective. We exchange our unrest for His peace, our confusion for His clarity, our striving for His strength.
Listen to the Heartbeat of Needy Souls:
When we attune our hearts to the voice of God, we begin to hear something else—the cries of hurting humanity.
The world is groaning. Beneath the noise, there are silent screams. The lonely. The overlooked. The broken. Those who carry silent battles and unseen wounds. They aren’t looking for religious rhetoric—they’re longing to be seen, heard, and loved.
Jesus was moved with compassion before He healed, fed, or taught (Matthew 9:36). His ministry didn’t begin with strategy—it began with a sensitive heart.
Can we hear what God hears? Can we feel what He feels? Let’s not become so desensitized by the noise that we miss the cries of those within our reach.
Be a Conduit of Healing and Hope:
We are not the source of life—but we are vessels. Carriers. Conduits.
Jesus said, “He who believes in Me…out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38). That river is the Spirit of God flowing through us—to a dry and thirsty world.
The Church is not called to be a fortress where we hide from culture—but a fountain from which healing flows. This generation doesn’t need louder noise—it needs clear voices who have been with Jesus in the secret place.
In every sphere—whether it’s a boardroom, neighborhood, shelter, or sanctuary—we’re called to bring His presence into the chaos.
The Voice of the Lord:
Psalm 29 reminds us who truly holds authority in the midst of the shaking:
“The Voice of the Lord is over the waters;
The Voice of the Lord is powerful;
The Voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
The Voice of the Lord breaks the cedars…
The Voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness…
The Voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth…
The Lord sits enthroned as King forever.
The Lord gives strength to His people;
The Lord blesses His people with peace.”
(Psalm 29:3-11)
The Voice of the Lord is louder and mightier than all the noise. When we tune our ears to Him, everything changes.
Let us quiet the noise. Draw near to God. Listen with our spirit. Let His Word echo louder than the headlines. Let His heartbeat for others shape your actions. And be a conduit of His healing and hope in a weary world.
